Fox Talbot was the inventor of modern photographic technique. Thanks to his researches, in particular the discovery of the positive-negative calotype, he became one of the outstanding figures who shaped the 20th century. This book traces a photographic journey which started in 1832 when Talbot was attracted by the beauties of Lake Como and wished that these natural images could be impressed in lasting way and could remain fixed on paper. The photographs that bear witness to the discovery of the calotype are of special interest.
